A Little Bit About Us

Vito's passion for cooking came at a young age while cooking with his Dad. They'd make traditional Italian dishes together & Vito soaked up all the knowledge his father shared. Vito also learned a lot about his Grandma's cooking from his aunts and Mom, always asking about special recipes and family favorites. Vito has been working in the food industry since the age of 12, washing dishes in a restaurant where his Mom was a waitress and later being promoted to the salad station (a very big deal for young Vito). Working alongside chefs in a restaurant kitchen further fueled Vito's desire to be a part of the food industry. After Vito's father passed away in 2003, he continued to hone his craft & later found a mentor and friend in Bobby Angelo (owner of the famous Michaelangelo's in Newark). 

Nicole's love of the food industry came later on. As a little girl she always enjoyed baking with her Mom and helping her Nonna in the kitchen. It wasn't until she was a young adult that she truly appreciated all of the love and care that went into preparing every dish. Nicole began working as a waitress and her love of the industry grew. She began to experiment in the kitchen, expanding her skills in cooking and baking, based on everything she had learned from her Mom and Nonna. 

When Vito and Nicole began dating, their love of family and food were some of the first things they bonded over. Together they dreamed of opening their own business one day. In 2014, that dream became a reality when they opened Vito's Hot Dogs & Vito's Catering. Vito and Nicole owned & operated Vito's Hot Dogs for about 3 years but with the birth of their son Vito in 2017, they decided it was time to move on from the hustle and bustle of the food truck industry. 

Over the next few years, Vito worked at several different restaurants & casinos (including the Bellagio in Las Vegas). Nicole became a stay at home Mom and they welcomed their daughter Sofia in 2019. Throughout this time, Vito and Nicole still operated Vito's Catering but the call to return more significantly to the food industry was always on their hearts. In early 2020, Vito and Nicole were on the cusp of signing a lease for a new restaurant when COVID-19 hit. Vito & Nicole re-evaluated and decided on going in a different direction, bringing restaurant quality food to a take-out atmosphere...
